Mobilegeddon, end of the desktop site?

Are you ready for Mobilegeddon?

That is the phrase SEOers have been using for the upcoming mobile optimization algorithm change Google is rolling out April 21st. This change will upend the current result pages ranking but only for mobile devices as Google will be “boosting the ranking of mobile-friendly pages on mobile search results”. Those of you searching on desktops wont notice a thing, but searching from a mobile device is going to have much different results.

If your site isn’t mobile friendly enough for Google you may experience a sudden decrease in mobile traffic and considering there are more mobile internet users than desktop, that is alot of traffic you may be missing out on.

Worst of all, that number of missed mobile traffic is only going to increase in the coming years, so if your site isn’t mobile friendly yet you may want to move forward with updating it sooner rather than later.
