Recapping reIGNITE 2026’s RevOps Panel: Challenges and Ways to Accelerate Growth

I had the privilege of participating in a Goose Digital’s RevOps panel last week at the 2026 edition of reIGNITE, an energizing conference designed for early stage founders and fast growing teams. The conversations reminded me that while revenue operations is often discussed as a technical function, it is actually a strategy for predictable growth.

The State of RevOps Today

Too many growing companies view RevOps as a tactical cleanup duty. They hire system administrators or less experienced technical marketers to manage software tools only after processes break. Modern RevOps requires a complete mental shift. It has to be treated as an executive discipline that bridges strategy and execution, aligning people, processes, and systems across the entire business lifecycle. If there isn’t executive buy-in, it’s likely your RevOps initiatives won’t have the impact your business needs.

Key Takeaways

Our panel focused on two core operational shifts every leadership team must make to build a scalable revenue engine.

First, stop leaking revenue through sales funnel inefficiency. Or in simpler terms: don’t let sales opportunities fall through gaps in your sales process. Growth and early stage businesses spend heavily on top of funnel acquisition (ie. Lead Generation), yet they ignore the structural friction throughout their sales cycle. Operational leaders need to map processes and assign clear accountability across the entire buyer journey. When you eliminate slow lead response times, vague qualification criteria, and messy handoffs between marketing, sales and customer success, conversion velocity increases. That’s faster/shorter sales cycles and potentially larger deal sizes. Fixing these internal “leaks” protects your capital and extends your runway without requiring additional marketing spend.

Second, establish one metric to rule them all to drive cross-departmental alignment. Functional teams often operate in isolated silos, optimizing for vanity metrics that do not translate to bottom line growth. Marketing celebrates lead volume, sales focuses on closed quotas, and customer success tracks account retention. During the panel, I suggested real alignment occurs when every department commits to shared, holistic targets centred on net revenue retention (NRR) and customer acquisition cost payback periods (CAC Payback). Unifying product, marketing, sales, and service around a single operational truth eliminates internal finger pointing and creates a predictable revenue forecasting model.

The Path Forward

Looking ahead, the primary challenge in RevOps isn’t adopting the latest software or integrating AI. The real test for leadership is maintaining operational discipline. As companies scale, the temptation to introduce unnecessary complexity into MarTech stacks and workflows is big. The organizations that win will be those that defend process simplicity, enforce strict data hygiene, and (continue to) hold cross functional leaders accountable to shared revenue goals.

Organizing RevOps as an executive priority transforms a chaotic, choppy or inconsistent scaling process into a repeatable, sustainable engine for growth.

A big thanks to Chris Adams and Jesse Kerr for hosting another wonderful conference, and for asking Goose Digital to participate in these thought leadership panels. To learn more about our RevOps services, please see how we break down our offerings here.
